How much does Private tutors cost in York? (2026 price guide)
Private tutoring typically costs £25-£40 per hour for primary-level subjects, £30-£50 per hour for GCSE-level tuition, and £40-£65 per hour for A-level or specialist subjects such as sciences and university admissions coaching.
Rates depend on the tutor's qualifications and experience, subject demand, whether sessions are online or in person, and how far in advance of exams tuition is booked, with exam-season demand often pushing prices up.
Ask whether tutors offer a trial session before committing to a block booking, and check qualifications and DBS checks, particularly for tutors working with children.
