What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

York households looking for additional academic support describe a tutoring service that pairs pupils with subject specialists across mathematics, science and geography. Isaac is credited with guiding a son through a GCSE maths resit, while Lucy earns recognition for themed sessions that shifted a daughter's outlook on maths before her SATs. Reviews regularly refer to the strength of the teaching, including one tutor who combines classroom experience with examining and grasps what the specification demands. Ziggy is singled out for keeping parents informed and for a son's advances in science.

Patience, encouragement and compassion recur, particularly for a pupil with special educational needs unable to attend school. Progress appears as a constant theme, with better mock results and rising self-belief described. The matching process is called responsive, and lessons can happen at home or in a nearby library. Families appreciate weekly progress notes and the admin behind the schedule, with one household introduced by another already satisfied. Sophie's bespoke A-level geography tuition, supported by weekly tasks, features as a point that comes up often.

Very grateful to Tutor Doctor. They matched my son with two tutors who had experience of teaching neurodivergent students and were able to keep him focused and engaged. I received an email each week keeping me informed of his progress, and they were easy to keep in touch with. As a result of their help my son grew in confidence and received two passes in his combined science GCSE, which means he was able to get onto his college course of choice. Thank you for all your help!

My son had tuition from the tutor doctor for maths and physics. Very responsive, visited us at home to arrange the sessions. The sessions can be done at home but we opted for a library near home. The tutor matched with my son was perfect 🤩 she was very good with him patient, understanding and gave praise where it was needed. She took the time to communicate with me extremely well and took an interest in who he was as opposed to just another student to teach. We were looking to push for at least a pass in these 2 subjects but with this help he jumped up 2 levels with a good pass! They are keen to keep the sessions consistent as to not form gaps in the learning and give you feedback from every session so you see and understand what learning is being done, where the child is up to and what areas needs more work. We are extremely grateful for this opportunity and overall the experience was excellent. It helped a very stressed out parent and helped massively a much needed young person especially in their confidence! I would highly recommend Tutor Doctor even at the last minute when everything fails but ideally strike when you see a need. Five 🌟 stars ✨ xxx

Ziggy has been our son’s Science tutor since the summer. She is excellent in her teaching during his weekly sessions. I have found her to also have excellent communication with myself where she is always so attentive and accommodating. Our son is showing great progress and he is very happy.

Great service. We were matched with the perfect tutor to support my daughter with her maths GCSE. He is a qualified teacher and examiner who really understood the specific curriculum and requirements. He specialises in working with kids who really struggle with maths, and has been a huge help to us. Highly recommend.
