What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Palmersville-based Solar Tuition is built around one tutor, referred to across reviews as Andrew, Dr Andrew or simply Doc, who teaches physics, chemistry and maths to GCSE and A-level students. Several families describe turning to him after difficult experiences with school teaching or during a period of homeschooling, and reviewers repeatedly note his skill at identifying exactly where a student's understanding breaks down before working methodically to close that gap.

Exam technique and past-paper practice come up often, alongside a teaching style reviewers describe as challenging students to reason through answers rather than simply recall memorised material. Grade improvements are a thread running through the feedback, with accounts describing a chemistry resit moving from a fail to a first-class result within two months and A-level science grades rising from a predicted C to an A. Long-standing relationships also feature, including one family who describe nearly six years of ongoing lessons.

Confidence-building is mentioned almost as often as academic results, with several reviewers crediting the tuition with helping anxious or discouraged students re-engage with subjects they had struggled to enjoy. Sessions are available most of the week from early morning until nine in the evening, with an extended slot on Sunday evenings, offering flexibility for families balancing school and other commitments.

We have been 100% satisfied with Andrew's tuition and service level generally. He runs a very professional operation, built a good rapport with my son and offered him great support in the run up to his A-levels. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Thank you so much for all the support Andrew and guidance you gave to Aryan. Your teaching not only helped him grasp challenging Physics concepts but also gave him the confidence to excel. We’re delighted to share that he achieved an A* in his A-Level Physics, and we truly appreciate the vital role you played in this success."*

Doc tutored me through many of my a level exams and I was able to bring a lot of myself that I didn’t know I had out and have major improvements from my results before and after, not only was he great with regards to the content and his knowledge but also with help in my revision outside of sessions. I would recommend him to anyone who is struggling to find their way with revision. Thanks Doc

Andrew is a great tutor, he always makes sure to make his clients his priority- changing his schedule to give another lesson. He is very dedicated to creating a strong foundational knowledge for his students and it massively helps and paves the way for further studies. He makes the most difficult topics easy to understand!

Andrew is a fantastic science tutor, and I only wish we had found him much earlier on. Nonetheless, the amount he has been able to cover with my daughter in a couple of months and her increased understanding and enjoyment of the subject is remarkable. HIghly recommended!

It has been great having Andrew Lawson tutoring my son and has really helped to develop his understanding in both physics and chemistry. A levels, can be a stressful time for any student and my son is no exception, but having Andrew on hand to guide him through the more complicated aspects of the sciences has been invaluable. He recently took his mocks and achieved an A in Chemistry and an A* in Physics, so we are very proud of him and very pleased with the tutoring that he has been receiving from Andrew. Definitely worth it.
