Progress Tutoring

Progress Tutoring was founded in 2018 and operates centres in Aintree and Ormskirk. The Aintree centre has 6 classrooms, while the Ormskirk centre has 7 classrooms. Tutoring is delivered by qualified teachers, not student tutors. Sessions are held in small groups with a maximum of six children per session.

Progress Tutoring is OFSTED registered. Tutoring covers Maths, English and Science for children in Year 1 to Year 11. Each session lasts 1 hour and consists of a combination of individual teaching and written exercises. The first tutoring lesson is free. Tours and visits are allowed only via bookings.

Louise and Rachel, the tutors behind Progress Tutoring on Altway in Aintree, are named across nearly every review left for the business, which covers GCSE English, Maths and Science alongside earlier entrance-exam preparation. A strong recurring theme is families with more than one child using the service over several years, with reviewers describing consistent, well-structured sessions and exam guidance that several parents credit directly with GCSE passes that might not otherwise have happened.

More than one account describes a pupil who had left mainstream school managing to sit and pass GCSEs with the centre's support, while others mention specific grade jumps, including one pupil moving from a grade three to a grade eight over the course of tuition. Reviewers repeatedly describe the tutors as going beyond scheduled lesson time, offering additional revision sessions online and detailed planning tailored to each subject's exam requirements. One reviewer, herself a teacher, specifically praises the thoroughness of the approach compared with what she sees in her own professional experience. The centre operates weekday afternoons and early evenings from half past three, with a slightly shorter Friday session, and is closed at weekends.
