Kumon Maths & English

Kumon was founded in 1958 in Osaka, Japan, by Toru Kumon, a high school maths teacher who created the method after his son Takeshi struggled with maths at school. The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes aim to foster life skills rather than simply teach exam-passing techniques, with 3.5 million students now enrolled worldwide.

Students learn through daily worksheets and regular class sessions with a Kumon Instructor, building ability and fluency in small, manageable steps.

Kumon Maths & English in Sketty has built a following among local families seeking extra support for their children. The centre, which runs as an after-school programme and mathematics school, is described by parents as a friendly and supportive environment where pupils work on maths and English skills. Several customers note that their children have advanced beyond their school year group, with one parent saying their kids now work a year ahead of the class curriculum. A recurring theme is the progress pupils make: reviewers mention improvements in confidence, focus and concentration since joining.

The named tutor, Meghana, receives consistent praise for being approachable, kind and ready to help, with one family noting her accommodating approach during the pandemic. Parents also highlight the staff's willingness to explain new concepts and the regular feedback they receive, including positive comments from school teachers at parents' meetings. Children themselves describe the lessons as enjoyable, and the atmosphere is repeatedly characterised as one of help and learning. The centre supports pupils who need extra assistance as well as those aiming to excel in maths and English.
