Kumon Maths & English

Kumon Swansea, Morriston is run by instructor Suja Nadarajah and forms part of Kumon, which was founded in 1958 in Osaka, Japan. Its aim is not to teach techniques for passing exams, but to foster life skills that children can apply throughout their lives, delivered through Maths and English study programmes.

Children attend regular classes either at the study centre or online.

Morriston families describe a tutoring centre where children build study habits steadily over years rather than weeks. Several parents note that their sons and daughters have attended for extended periods, with one mentioning nearly two years of continuous enrolment and another describing four completed levels of mathematics work. A recurring point is the confidence children gain, with reviewers frequently linking this to independent working, quicker reasoning and, in several cases, progress of around two academic years ahead of school age.

The style of learning itself comes up often, particularly for a pupil in year nine who found mainstream classrooms difficult and settled better in a warm, welcoming setting. Named instructor Joanne receives repeated praise for professionalism and for helping a home-schooled child move from unfamiliarity with letters to reading simple sentences and writing. Suja is also mentioned by a parent grateful that her daughter now asks for help without hesitation. Parents describe the environment as friendly and motivating, and note that communication around their child's development has been clear.
