First Class Learning Southampton Central

First Class Learning Southampton Central is a tuition centre offering maths, English, and science programmes aligned with the National Curriculum for learners aged 4 to 16. Before joining, every student takes a free maths and English assessment with the Centre Manager, Anshu Chandpuri, BA, MEd, a qualified teacher with more than 25 years of teaching experience in private and state school settings.

Every First Class Learning Centre Manager holds an enhanced DBS certificate. The centre uses a unique Skills Assessment to identify strengths and areas needing support, and learning programmes are personalised based on assessment results. Specialised packages are available for students preparing for the Phonics Screening test, SATs, and GCSEs.

First Class Learning's Southampton Central branch, at Edmund Kell Community Hall on Bellevue Road, is closely associated with a tutor named Anshu, described across several reviews as patient, caring and closely connected with the pupils she teaches. One consistent note is the length of relationship families describe, with more than one parent mentioning four years or longer of continuous attendance and a child who looks forward to sessions each week rather than treating them as an obligation. Open house events held at the centre are mentioned by several reviewers as informative, giving prospective families a clear sense of the teaching approach before committing to sessions.

Reviewers describe the atmosphere at these events as welcoming, with the centre's methods set out in a straightforward way and genuine enthusiasm for teaching evident throughout visits. Confidence-building is mentioned repeatedly as a core outcome, alongside genuine enjoyment of lessons on the part of pupils. The centre is open every day of the week, including weekends, giving families flexibility over scheduling. Several reviewers who attended as prospective families rather than existing pupils describe leaving open house sessions with a clear, positive impression of the centre's approach to teaching and pastoral care for children.
