Kumon Maths & English

Kumon Swindon West is an Ofsted registered centre run by instructor Stephen Chamberlain, delivering the Kumon Maths and English study programmes. Children attend either at the study centre or online.

Kumon was founded in 1958 in Osaka, Japan, by Toru Kumon, a maths teacher who began writing worksheets to help his son with maths, and the organisation now operates in more than 60 countries and regions worldwide.

Parents whose children attend this Swindon centre describe steady academic progress in both maths and English, with arithmetic accuracy and speed improving noticeably after consistent attendance. The instruction is repeatedly commended as patient and adaptable, and learning is adjusted to suit individual needs, including pupils who were behind at school. Named staff members Stephen, Elizabeth and Stefan recur in accounts for their kindness, encouragement and welcoming manner, and one parent notes that online classes maintained the same quality of coaching.

Another mentions a child who worked through all the levels over six years and took part in a national mathematics competition. A theme running through the feedback is the long-term commitment families make, with children attending for two years or more and siblings joining at different ages. Parents also value the clear communication with tutors and the structured routine, which is credited with helping pupils manage schoolwork alongside the programme. Building study habits and confidence runs as the consistent thread through the feedback, alongside the friendly and supportive environment that families describe.
