My Maths Coach

Sam helped build my son’s confidence in and even his enjoyment of maths during Year 11, resulting in his predicted grade 7 at the end of Year 10 turning into an amazing achieved grade 9! Sam’s clear, encouraging, and patient teaching style made all the difference. He took time to understand how my son understood maths topics best, as well as where his strengths and weaknesses lay. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend him as a tutor!

My son was not keen on the idea of a maths tutor initially, but at the end of year 10 he was disappointed with his end of year results so, begrudgingly, agreed to it. After a few sessions, he relaxed into it and we never looked back. Sam had a great rapport with my son and always explained new concepts with patience and clarity. Sam gave my son the confidence to achieve his very best in maths and he went from achieving a grade 4 in his end of Year 10 exams to a grade 7 for his GCSE. I honestly don’t think he would have got there without Sam’s tuition. If you are thinking of getting a maths tutor, I highly recommend Sam.

Sam tutored me for Further Maths A Level. After a disappointing mock result, he really helped me rebuild my confidence in my Maths and helped me understand all the extra little bits that I couldn’t quite get from the lessons in school alone, leading to me achieving an A in Further maths in the end. He was a fantastic Maths tutor and just a lovely man to spend an hour with once a week! Couldn’t recommend enough.

Sam was recommended to us by another parent whose son was having private maths lessons with him. My son started having math lessons with Sam from the end of March 2022. He wanted to study maths as A level and needed some extra help to improve his math’s knowledge. I had a very good impression of Sam from the beginning. He was professional, approachable, punctual (as a Swiss watch) and it turned out to be not only very knowledgeable about the subject but also very good at passing that knowledge to my son. With Sam’s help my son did very well in his maths exam (GCSE). He got an 8 (shy of a 9). My son was very happy with Sam’s teaching. He really enjoyed the lessons and he went extra mile in his independent studies not to disappoint Sam. After every lesson with Sam he would tell me how much he had learned, how much easier it was to solve maths problems now and how much his confidence had increased. I would strongly recommend Sam to any student or parent that is looking for a private maths teacher for their children.

Sam has been an excellent math tutor. He really helped me build up my confidence in A-level maths and his approach to teaching was very interactive and beneficial in allowing me to see significant Improvements in my performance. I really appreciated how calm and patient he was with me while helping me grasp difficult concepts. Sam’s approachability also made it very easy for me to seek clarification and he always resorted to different methods to explain the same concept which I found very useful. I would really recommend Sam to anyone wanting to enhance their math skills :)

Since starting maths tutoring with Sam we have seen a marked improvement in our daughter's grasp of the content and confidence within the subject. He has established a great connection which has enabled her to be comfortable to explore her more challenging topic areas without fear of failure. Notably, she has just completed her mock GCSE in a much calmer, prepared, and confident manner.

Sam tutored my son for the last year of his Maths GCSE. Before the pandemic, Sam came to our home. He was always punctual and very courteous. Sam’s tutoring played a significant role in my son doing well in his Maths GCSE. He is very patient and calm and extremely clear in his teaching. Now, Sam is tutoring my daughter Maths online. This is invaluable. Again, he always explains things clearly and readily consolidates topics and processes with her. Sam is engaging and friendly. My daughter is making good progress in Maths. Sam is definitely an A* Maths tutor.
